Charles joined PwC in 2024 and leads the Software Corporate Finance practice focusing on M&A transactions and capital raises. He has over 20 years of experience and advised on £20 billion worth of software M&A transactions in Europe in his previous role as Managing Director at Arma Partners, working closely with founders, software businesses, private equity investors and venture capital firms.
Charles has led a significant number of software M&A transactions including:
- Sale of Civica, a portfolio company of Partners Group, to Blackstone
- Strategic investment by Hg in Access Group at an enterprise value of £9.2 billion
- Sale of Tes Global, a portfolio company of Providence Equity, to Onex Partners
- Sale of Allocate Software (Pan-European healthcare software), a portfolio company of Hg and Vista Equity Partners, to RLDatix, a portfolio company of TA Associates and Five Arrows
- Sale of thinkproject (pan-European construction software), a portfolio company of TA Associates, to EQT
- Sale of a minority stake in Aareon (German/pan-European real estate software), a subsidiary of Aareal Bank, to Advent International at an enterprise value of €960 million
- Sale of a minority stake in Argus Media (global energy pricing data provider), a portfolio company of General Atlantic, to Hg
- Sale of webpros (German/US hosting software), a portfolio company of Oakley Capital, to CVC
- Sale of smartTrade (French capital markets software), a portfolio company of Keensight Capital, to Hg
- Sale of Maincare Solutions (French healthcare software), a portfolio company of STG, to Montagu Private Equity
- Sale of IDBS (UK founder-owned life sciences software) to Danaher Corporation
