James is Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer. Before joining the board, he was the UK firm’s Strategy & Change Leader and Commercial Strategy Leader. Previously he held various roles within the Deals line of service, including Head of Transaction Services and has extensive experience in M&A. James is an ICAEW qualified accountant and became a partner in 2003.
James is PwC UK’s Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer, responsible for shaping the firm’s strategic direction and driving transformational change. He is a member of the UK Management Board and works across the firm to enhance PwC UK’s services and ways of working, including alignment with PwC’s global network.
Before joining the Board, James was the UK firm’s Strategy & Change Leader and Commercial Strategy Leader. He has also held leadership roles within PwC’s Deals line of service, including as Head of Transaction Services, where he led teams advising clients on acquisitions, disposals, re-financings, joint ventures, and public company takeovers.
James has over 30 years of experience at PwC, working across Audit, Corporate Finance, and Transaction Services. He has led deals across a range of industries, including Business Services, Consumer, Healthcare, Industrials, and TMT, supporting clients from private equity firms, corporates, and financial institutions. His role has often involved coordinating PwC’s full range of services on transactions, including financial due diligence, commercial and operational reviews, tax, pensions, and post-merger integration.
A former leader of PwC’s UK Private Equity Deals practice, James remains active in the private equity sector and has been involved in many of the largest pan-European transactions over the last 20 years.
James is an ICAEW-qualified accountant and became a partner in 2003.
