ESG Leader for Deals
Energy, Utilities, Resources and Infrastructure Corporate Finance Leader

“ESG offers the opportunity of a generation for our clients to invest in the future by looking differently at the market, their business strategy, investments and assets. To succeed, they need to put ESG front of mind so they're in the best position to identify and maximise new investment opportunities; access capital; restructure or divest the old; and effectively manage their investment risks.”

James has over 25 years’ of corporate finance experience and prior to PwC spent 18 years at HSBC Bank plc where he was Global Head of Advisory for the Infrastructure and Real Estate Group. He leads our ESG business for Deals and is responsible for driving our capabilities and activities as well as our learning and development in this hugely important area right across the Deals line of service. He is passionate about convening and connecting our clients to support them in creating truly sustainable value for the future.

He also leads PwC’s Energy, Utilities, Resources and infrastructure Lead Advisory team and has a particular focus on New Energy and decarbonisation technologies.

James graduated from the University of Manchester with an LLB, before qualifying as a solicitor with Clifford Chance and then joining HSBC in 2000. James has been a partner at PwC since 2018.
