Jo Cox is a Tax Partner and real estate specialist who advises both private and institutional clients including retailers, housebuilders, family offices, UK and overseas REITs, fund managers, insurers and sovereign wealth funds.
Prior to joining PwC in 2018 she spent 13 years in a range of finance, tax and commercial positions at The British Land Company PLC, a FTSE 100 property company and one of the first UK REITs, where latterly she was responsible for tax structuring and execution of corporate and property transactions.
Jo is skilled in planning and executing complex and/or high value UK real estate transactions and managing transaction risk through due diligence. Her experience includes structuring new property ventures including large-scale mixed-use developments, multi-jurisdiction and fund structures. She regularly advises on UK and cross-border tax implications of transactions and financing, tax optimisation, restructuring of existing property holdings, corporate streamlining and simplification.
Jo has close links with PwC’s China Business Group and PwC HK and leads a specialist team who support investors and developers from the Asia Pacific region.
Her experience gives her a unique and valuable, commercially focused insight as a tax advisor and she brings a fresh perspective, as well as first-hand experience of dealing with operational tax and finance issues for businesses.
Jo has extensive operational finance and tax experience including in-house UK tax compliance and compliance with the UK REIT regime.
