John Fisher

John specialises in the financial aspects of commercial claims and disputes. John leads PwC’s Disputes practice and has over 20 years’ experience in advising clients in dispute situations. His experience covers a wide range of disputes including those related to breach of contract, breach of warranty, competition matters, professional negligence, damages arising from other causes, litigation against directors/officers, insurance claims and a wide range of transaction related matters. John has testified on a number of occasions in High Court, arbitration and other proceedings in the UK and overseas.

John also has deep experience in completion accounts and other transaction related disputes and has acted in over 100 transactions in recent years. He specialises in helping vendors or purchasers protect or enhance the value of a transaction. He regularly acts as Independent Expert, determining disputes between parties.

Highlights of John's experience include:

• Acting as expert accounting witness in a billion dollar SIAC arbitration arising from the wrongful termination of a long term infrastructure development and management concession.
• Acting as expert accounting witness in a major ICC arbitration between a logistics business and a manufacturer of commercial vehicles/plant. In this case, gave evidence on, separately, liability issues and quantum.
• Giving expert accounting evidence for a claimant in a UK High Court action. The claimant successfully claimed that it was due monies in compensation due to the extraction of oil from reserves under its property.
• Advising a regulator in relation to its action for negligence against an audit firm.
• Advising a multinational on completion accounts disputes following the sale of a bank ($1bn).
• Advising a purchaser on completion accounts dispute (c$100m) following the sale of a metals business.
• Acting as Independent Accountant to determine the amount of certain balances in the completion statements following the sale of a software company.
