Director, PwC United Kingdom
Michael joined PwC in March 2020, as a Director in the Tax Disputes Network. Prior to joining, Michael was a Senior Civil Servant in HMRC where he specialised in dispute resolution, transfer pricing and international tax. Michael has led numerous HMRC investigations into large businesses across a wide variety of industries, including pharmaceuticals, utilities, construction, transport and the automotive sector. He has significant experience of leading clients through HMRC's High-Risk Corporates Programme, with a proven track record of building trust and resolving entrenched disputes.
Michael's most recent role in HMRC was as the Transfer Pricing Leader for Large and Mid-sized Business operations. In this role, Michael was responsible for all aspects of HMRC's compliance activities in the transfer pricing sphere, including risk assessment, enquiry working, dispute resolution, special projects, capability-building and governance. Michael also brings an in-depth understanding of HMRC's governance processes, having sat on the Department's Transfer Pricing Board and also on the Diverted Profits Board.
Although he is based in London, Michael lives in the Midlands and is looking forward to helping colleagues across the PwC network. He is happy to be contacted by colleagues looking for guidance on dealing with HMRC disputes, whether involving Transfer Pricing, Diverted Profits or any other issues.
