Creating more adaptable, sustainable and cognitive supply chains is critical to helping organisations balance the trade-off between navigating increased disruption with the strategic imperative to improve cost efficiency, sustainability, quality and service.
CEOs are increasingly determined to drive transformative change and reinvent business models in the face of persistent challenges and growth ambitions, with more than half (53%) taking personal responsibility for sponsoring transformation within their organisation. But concern over supply chain stability is limiting their ability to respond.
But by over indexing on avoiding instability, organisations risk missing out on opportunities to transform their supply chain for competitive advantage, instead making decisions that drive up costs or increase carbon footprint.
Balancing this trade-off effectively to manage disruption while creating growth requires a more intelligent, sensing and predictive supply chain that is ready for ‘unknown unknowns’. A cognitive supply chain with AI-driven business processes at its core enables organisations to get full visibility upstream and downstream, with a trusted flow of information across the supplier network. Organisations can then anticipate change and be ready to respond and adapt at a moment’s notice.
From contract management and purchasing to supplier relationships and more, GenAI is already helping organisations to deliver tangible benefits, including improved efficiency, reduced cost and greater value. And almost two-thirds (65%) of Supply Chain Champions in our Reinventing Supply Chains 2030 global survey consider AI as being the most influential technology for leading supply chains.
Our global supply chain survey shows how these investments in supply chain transformation can pay off. The survey identified a small group of industry leading ‘Champions’ who expect a 16% revenue increase and anticipate a 19% reduction in supply chain costs as a result of their investments in capabilities and technology.
Across the full value chain - from plan and make to source and deliver - AI-driven cognitive business processes are key to helping organisations manage disruption and still enable growth and create new sources of value.
Balancing cost, resilience and sustainability is now key to building reliable, responsible and agile supply chains. Watch our experts Patrick Marter, Lisa Callinan and Chris Smith discuss how to turn these conflicting priorities into opportunities, and manage them in an integrated way for long-term success.
