PwC has appointed Katie Johnston as local and devolved government leader.

With over two decades experience of working in partnership with devolved administrations, mayoral combined authorities, local authorities and police forces, Katie has been with PwC for seven years, the last three years as partner, and prior to that 14 years working in professional services.

She brings a wealth of experience in transforming service delivery, and releasing funds to meet funding gaps, investment in community and economic development. She specialises in the modernisation of services for vulnerable children and adults, and has recently contributed to the development of policies for reducing economic inactivity. She is also PwC’s lead partner for the Department of Work and Pensions.

Katie is a mother of two young children and passionate about ensuring that women from diverse backgrounds have the opportunity to reach their full potential in their careers.

On her appointment, Katie said:

“I am honoured to take on this role and lead PwC's work across devolved and local government in the UK at a time when the sector has a vital role to play in improving the nation’s economic performance, promoting investment in infrastructure and workforce, and delivering vital and sustainable public services. We have some incredible people working across the sector who are passionate about making a difference. I look forward to continuing to work closely with our clients and key sector stakeholders to create sustainable and meaningful impact.”

Rachel Taylor, leader of government and health industries, added:

“Katie’s energy and passion for the sector is fantastic, and we are so lucky to have her joining our leadership team. She has an outstanding reputation in the sector and is well known to mayors, council leaders, CEOs, and other senior leaders. Her knowledge and experience is invaluable in helping our local and devolved government and wider public sector clients navigate some critical challenges at a time of significant change and opportunity for the sector.”
