PwC publishes parental leave pay policies

09/26/18

PwC has published its parental leave pay policies on its website, in a move to encourage greater transparency on the support available to working parents.

This is one of the latest steps taken by PwC to ensure that its culture is as inclusive as possible and that opportunities are open to all. In addition to the parental leave package offered by the firm, working parents are supported by the firm’s everyday and more formal flexible working opportunities, maternity transition coaching, backup/emergency childcare, support through PwC’s parents and carers network and the firm’s Back to Business returnship programme.

PwC hopes that by making its parental leave policies public it will help drive the conversation about workplace culture and enhance fairness in recruitment practices. Creating the right culture will help ensure that organisations’ policies to support working parents have widespread support and take-up. For example, shared parental leave policies will only have an impact if more dads feel comfortable using the policies in place. PwC is proud that over 300 of its dads have taken shared parental leave since the policy was introduced in 2015.

Laura Hinton, chief people officer at PwC, said:

“Working parents bring huge value to our workforce and publishing our parental leave policies is another step towards leveling the playing field for all when it comes to recruitment and progression. We hope that more organisations get behind the campaign.

“Having good policies in place is one thing, but they need to be supported by the right culture to really drive change. We’re working hard to create a culture where parents feel supported and different ways of working are celebrated. We want dads to feel just as comfortable requesting parental leave as mums, parents to feel supported in their return to work and people being judged on the value they bring, not time spent in the office. We’re already challenging assumptions on flexible working with our new Flexible Talent Network and our investment in collaborative technology makes it possible for our people to work from different locations.

“We need more  diversity at the top levels of our business and publishing our maternity and paternity policies is another step towards creating a culture where opportunities are fair and open to all.”
