As per the figures stated in the directors’ statement of affairs, initial indications are that unsecured creditors will receive a small dividend by virtue of the prescribed part only.

If any creditor wishes to advance a Retention of Title claim, please contact enquiries.evanscycles@uk.pwc.com.

Gift card customers

For the reasons explained below, unfortunately the balance cannot be redeemed and no refunds can be made.

As you may be aware, the Company is insolvent and entered administration on 30 October 2018.  The business and operating assets were bought by Sports Direct International Plc on the same date.  Whilst the purchaser is not obliged to honour gift cards purchased prior to 30 October 2018, as a gesture of goodwill, it did announce (on its website, in stores and on social media) that it would honour gift cards for a limited time, which ended on 31 January 2019.

Gift cards expire two years after purchase.  Any unused balance under two years old is owed to you by the Company.  However, as the Company is in an insolvency process, the amount owed to you ranks as an ‘unsecured claim’, alongside all other unsecured creditors.

We do expect to be able to distribute a small fund to creditors within the next 6 to 12 months, but given the level of debt the Company has, we currently expect each unsecured creditor will receive less than 2% of what they are owed.

For example, if you have an unexpired balance of £100, you could expect to receive a dividend of no more than £2.

If you wish to participate in the distribution and receive a dividend, please visit our website at www.pwc.co.uk/evanscycles to download a Statement of Claim form.

Please complete and return the form to us at the following address:

Alternatively, you can email it to us at creditor.services@uk.pwc.com.

In Section 8 of the claim form, please state that your claim relates to an unused gift card balance and quote your gift card number.  It will help our claim agreement process if you are also able to provide one of the following:

  • For E-gift vouchers, a copy of the email containing the voucher details; or
  • A receipt showing date of purchase.

If you do lodge a claim, we will add you to the list of the Company’s creditors and you will be informed on how to access our six-monthly updates on the progress of the administration and any other correspondence we issue to creditors.  You will not need to contact us again unless you wish to inform us of a change of address.

VAT export scheme customers

Unfortunately for customers that have submitted VAT export forms which were submitted for purchases made prior to the Company entering Administration on 30 October 2018, your claim would constitute an unsecured claim in the Administration. You can make a claim via the usual process by submitting a statement of claim form via the aforementioned methods.
