HeForShe

Setting the scene

HeForShe launched in 2014 and PwC’s global network became a Corporate Impact Champion as another way of delivering our Purpose to solve important problems. PwC is joined by nine other Corporate Impact Champions, 10 Heads of State, and 10 Education Impact Champions.

PwC made three commitments to support HeForShe:

  1. Develop and launch an innovative male-focused gender curriculum across the global network - delivered last year with the launch of Gender IQ online training, which is also available to share with our clients. We have been promoting this in the UK firm.
  2. Launch a Global Inclusion Index to further increase women in leadership roles - launched last year.
  3. Raise the global profile of HeForShe with our people, clients, and communities by pledging to a goal of getting 80,000 men from within the firm to make a HeForShe commitment by December 2018.

How we helped

PwC UK created special HeForShe lanyards for employees to wear as a visible commitment to the HeForShe movement. The Gender Balance Network also set-up regular HeForShe action stations across the firm with volunteers telling employees about the HeForShe movement, asking them to make their commitment to gender equality and explaining how they can take action: acknowledge potential blind spots, challenge double standards, expand your network, call on more voices and bring equality home.

More widely, PwC has achieved gender equality on its Global Leadership Team and designed Gender IQ training for employees and clients.

Making a difference

This resulted in an increase in awareness of the movement and also hundreds more HeForShe commitments being made towards PwC global’s target of 80,000 male employees making their HeForShe commitment by December 2018.
