COP26 climate programmes

It’s been another crucial year of global climate action. With the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) taking place in Glasgow in November 2021, we’ve been working on a number of key climate programmes which will be profiled at the event.

We’re delivering two flagship climate programmes - the Climate Ambition Support Alliance  (CASA) and the Climate Finance Accelerator (CFA) - for the UK Government to be profiled at COP26.

Climate Finance Accelerator Programme

The Climate Finance Accelerator (CFA) Programme is a £10 million technical assistance programme funded by the UK Government's Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) through International Climate Finance (ICF). The CFA is part of the UK’s efforts to support climate action at scale by providing practical ways to help governments in middle-income countries finance and deliver their climate commitments under the Paris Agreement.

We’re leading delivery of the CFA programme, supported by Ricardo and our in-country delivery partners across the eight countries we work in. Our focus is to help to overcome the challenges and blockages that prevent finance from flowing at the volume and speed required to have a meaningful impact on the delivery of their national climate plans.

Climate Ambition Support Alliance

As part of our ongoing engagement with the UK Government’s Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), the Climate Ambition Support Alliance (CASA) programme seeks to build the capacity and capability of negotiators from the least developed and most climate vulnerable countries to engage in the international climate change negotiations.

Our vision is for a fairer, more inclusive negotiation process that enables the meaningful participation of climate-vulnerable country negotiators, supporting the ambition to keep global warming to less than 1.5°C and reducing the prospects of rapidly escalating climate extremes and severe risks for vulnerable people and systems.

We do this by working closely with a range of partners to provide legal, technical, strategic, diplomatic and media support before, during and after the negotiations. Find out more here.
