Like many businesses, international glass manufacturer NSG Group experienced severe supply chain disruption and inflationary pressures during the pandemic. As part of our Act Now To Recover campaign, working capital experts within our business restructuring team helped NSG to overcome supply chain challenges and effectively manage its inventories.
Like many other businesses, during 2020 and 2021, NSG faced significant supply chain disruption due to the Covid pandemic. Paired with a high volatility in demand, particularly in the automotive market, this created a key challenge for the business. On top of that, as a high energy consuming business, NSG was also significantly impacted by increased inflation in energy prices.
It needed an urgent solution to maximise supply chain effectiveness - one that not only focused on managing inventory, but that prioritised cash too.
Our experienced working capital team, led by Partner Daniel Windaus, provided NSG with new methodologies to optimise inventory management to better react to emerging issues and priorities in its supply chain.
This included supporting the team in understanding their inventory and supply chain planning models, allowing it to make much faster decisions regarding its inventory requirements while continuing to drive operational efficiencies.
Understanding the detailed challenges and unique constraints to NSG was critical in ensuring that we supported it in implementing a new supply chain model that really worked for the business.
“PwC really understood our business. It’s the ability to demonstrate that they knew what they were talking about and to provide practical supply chain insight that was so valuable. We’ve significantly reduced our inventory levels and also created a different environment to better respond to future disruption.”
Over the last 18 months, we significantly reduced the amount of inventory needed to effectively run the business, while also increasing the company's ability to react to changes. But, most importantly, we supported in driving a core shift in NSG Group’s supply chain mindset.
