Climate change is one of the most pressing problems facing our world today and it’s really important we all understand the role we can play to achieve a just transition to a low carbon world.
Tackling climate change is core to our purpose and as a firm, we have a lot to be proud of.
We’ve been driving action and reporting on climate change and sustainability for well over a decade. We’re helping our clients on their net zero journeys and supporting our staff to learn more about ESG and take practical steps towards tackling climate change.

It’s been such a busier year in the ESG space and there are so many programmes and initiatives to highlight. Having worked in sustainability for a number of years it’s really positive to see the momentum building and the commitments being made to Net Zero.
I’m proud that PwC have made a science based commitment to be Net Zero by 2030 and I’m delighted to work with the team on reducing our greenhouse gas emissions to achieve this.

Sustainability is an area I care deeply about and I’m proud of how PwC supported staff in taking practical steps towards tackling climate change.
Through the Count Us In programme, I’ve been able to make several personal pledges to reduce my own footprint and I can track the estimated carbon saving and see the difference I’m actually making.
It’s great to be part of one of the biggest sustainability initiatives the firm has launched.

This year is the third year PwC has taken part in the Veganuary challenge and the first year that I have taken part. Veganuary is a great time to give plant based food a go and we were given lots of advice and support, including daily Veganuary inspiration emails, recipes and even cook-a-long videos. My takeaway from Veganuary was not to be afraid of the strange looking vegetables and fruits in the supermarket aisle and I’m more aware of where my produce comes from and seasonal does taste better.

A key highlight of the year for me was the firm wide event with environmental scientist Dr Tara Shine. It was about the green recovery post COVID-19 and what actions we can all take to build back better, fairer and with more imagination. The event was really engaging, drawing on Tara’s experience both at an international policy level and a local level, empowering individuals to tackle climate change.
I came away thinking there is something in sustainability for everyone, be it economic sense, conscience or convenience.

This is a defining moment. We have the chance to help build a future that’s clean, resilient and more equal. We need to work in partnership, because together we can make a difference for future generations.
