Amelia Bargh

Subject: A-Level Government and Politics

Job Title: Audit Associate

Where I work: My base office is atEmbankment Place, London, though Ioften work from my clients’ offices.

How I use Politics in my work now:

  • Politics helps me to better understand the news and political events and understand how they affect my clients and their finances. Really helpful with documentation!
  • Politics help me to develop my communication, debating and team building skills that I use everyday at PwC

My highlight of my job so far

  • I have loved joining a firm full of like minded people. It sounds cliché but the people at PwC are what really make me love my job. A lot of the highlights that spring to mind are socialising with colleagues.
  • Being able to manage my portfolio and getting onto clients by reaching out to senior colleagues. If I don’t want to work on something I don’t have to as long as I can pose a viable alternative!

If I went back in time what piece of advice would I give my 17 year old self?

Don’t always listen to your parents – they are right about most things, but their generation and the world they lived in is very different to yours. Internships are going to be one of the most rewarding things you do, but don’t be narrow minded so early on, try out different industries.Success is just a series of failures – this is so true so PLEASE don’t be scared to fail.
