Transparency Report 2024 - Artificial Intelligence in Audit

Matt Putt
At PwC, we use a human-led, tech-powered approach to deliver a high quality audit.

Our approach brings together the deep knowledge of our auditors with powerful technology, tools and capabilities. Now is a really exciting time for emerging technologies, and our people are empowered to get involved and reimagine the way we use technology on our audits.

With Artificial Intelligence (AI) rapidly changing the way we live and work, we’re continuously looking at how AI can be utilised in an appropriate way in Audit.

Hannah Cole
A dedicated team of audit subject matter experts, data scientists and innovation managers have come together to create our Audit GenAI hub. The hub is focused on innovating and building use cases for GenAI in the audit, and I'm really excited by the proof of concepts we're working on.

We also have Digital Accelerators who are deployed across our whole audit practice to encourage the use of the latest tools and technologies and build citizen-led assets.

I love being a Digital Accelerator, which means I receive specialised technology training that I combine with my audit experience to help teams identify areas where they can make better use of our advanced tech.

Chinara Aliyeva
We have launched ChatPwC, which is an intelligent assistant that uses generative AI to respond to text-based questions within a secure environment. ChatPwC is available to everyone in Audit once they have completed the required training, including on prompt engineering, business rules and the specific use cases on where we can use it.

I have already seen how we can use GenAI to document a walkthrough of an organisation's process by taking a transcript of our meeting and using the validated ChatPwC prompt to summarise the transcript. This produced a good first draft of our documentation.

While of course it still needs review, it's great to see how this technology is positively impacting the work we do.

I'm excited to see how the use of AI evolves in the future to deliver a Next Generation Audit that's human-led, tech-powered, data-enabled, and AI driven.
