AML Transaction Monitoring - supporting a UK high street

Working with a UK high street bank to help them manage and transform their AML Transaction Monitoring processes.

The client we are working with is very much a UK high street bank and operations dotted across the UK, but also in a range of different areas offshore.

Our client is probably facing challenges, plural, and has regulatory pressure as most banks are experiencing, but also making sure that they are operating as effectively as they can do, whilst remaining compliant. The solution we offered was under our Execution Managed Services umbrella, particularly focusing on transaction monitoring services. Using not only our delivery hub in Belfast, but also our global network firms to support on an operational delivery perspective, wrapped around that is our SMEs from the financial crime function.

They had a backlog of alerts and they don't have enough capacity in their teams to support this backlog, so there would have been issues with internal deadlines, regulatory compliance at the end of it.

Not only worked the backlog down, but also allowed them to work on what they deem to be the highest risk alerts as well.

We've been able to come in and provide a lot of that subject matter and on the ground support that they just wouldn't have been able to do as quickly. We also link in with the client in terms of strategy, how we can support them with process improvements, how we can improve the way they do things as well.

That's going to set the framework for more sustained outcomes going forward with clearer procedures and more informed guidance. With the way EMS operates, we are trusted advisors that are going to be with you for the long term. We are going to give you the advice day in day out whilst still delivering for you, that's the real difference.

We use technology to enhance our investigators, our investigators need to be able to make a decision on the facts of the case. They're using technology to pull data, but they are making those decisions themselves. Their understanding and their experience is going to help us to solve the challenge. We have our teams in our delivery centres, who are the real superstars of what we're doing.

We had a case, which really brought it home. We are cutting down the process in the right way so that we can focus on the risks that allows us to be able to then ultimately help to tackle financial crime and to stop things like human trafficking on the ground.

Fundamentally, the client feels as though they have a trusted advisor, who is invested in achieving success with them.

I feel quite proud that we've been able to bring the power of our network together. The delivery centres we've got, bring in our advisory work, bring in all the best of the firm for the client. There's also a big purpose piece. It is very much around, how do we do the right thing, how do we actually try and spot financial crime. The work we are doing is to investigate something that could potentially be suspicious and could uncover something that will help the world we live in.
