The South East rose from sixth to third among the UK’s nations and regions in PwC’s Women in Work Index, which assesses progress made towards achieving gender equality at work across 33 OECD countries and 12 UK regions and nations.
The East of England has experienced the most significant decline among the UK’s regions and nations in the latest PwC Women in Work Index, dropping five places from 3rd in 2022 to 8th in 2023. This decline highlights the challenges faced by the region in achieving gender equality in the workplace.

Southampton is the highest performing city in the South East, according to the latest PwC-Demos Good Growth for Cities Index, moving up by two places from last year to third out of 51.
