Carbon Reduction Plan
Our Carbon Reduction Plan has been produced in line with PPN 06/21 and the associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans.
At the heart of achieving net zero is the need to build trust. We are committed to leading by example and have made a worldwide science-based commitment to reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. Crucially, the commitment includes our supply chain and embedding ESG into our work with clients.
In July 2021, our targets were independently validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), which affirmed our approach and timeline. Importantly, our targets go beyond scopes 1 and 2 emissions to include our largest indirect scope 3 emissions. Additionally, PwC has committed to the United Nation’s Race To Zero campaign and Business Ambition for 1.5°C, which aims to build momentum around the shift to a decarbonised economy.
However, we recognize the importance of actively reducing the climate impact of our own operational footprint now. That is why, as we work towards net zero in 2030, to mitigate our impacts today we will continue to offset our emissions through high-quality carbon credits. From 2030 we will remove our remaining emissions to achieve net zero across our network.
Our Carbon Reduction Plan has been produced in line with PPN 06/21 and the associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans.
Our carbon emissions are relatively low compared to many sectors, as we set out in our statement on climate-related financial risk. However, they’re our biggest environmental impact, and we want to play our part in contributing to the UK Government’s targets of reaching net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
We’ve offset our carbon emissions as reported in each financial year since 2007, enabling us to be carbon neutral. We’ve achieved this through significantly reducing our greenhouse gas emissions, and purchasing certified carbon credits to offset what remains at the end of each year.
How we cut our carbon emissions by 83% since 2007, achieving our 2022 targets.
