Our technology investment

The New Equation is our global strategy to address the breadth and complexity of challenges facing businesses and society. We’re working to build trust, deliver sustained outcomes and help clients solve their most important problems, by combining human ingenuity and understanding with the right technology.

From building teams with diverse perspectives, experiences and expertise to investing in our skills and technologies, we are continuing to invest to bring our human-led, tech-powered approach to life for clients. This includes creating intelligent platforms. These are tailor-made, comprehensive technology solutions - that remove complexity and create sustained outcomes for our clients. Built in the cloud, they are scalable, powered by data and above all secure.

We have combined business expertise, industry insight, and our ecosystem of proprietary and Alliance partner technologies, to create modular solutions that can adapt as clients' needs change and technology evolves. By having our services and propositions powered by PwC’s intelligent platforms, we are helping our clients achieve the outcomes most important to them.

Generative AI

Our approach has prioritised investment in new technologies such as Generative AI (GenAI). During the past year we announced our partnership with AI startup Harvey, providing PwC’s Legal Business Solutions professionals exclusive access to this game-changing AI platform. It allows us to enhance our work in a range of areas, including contract analysis, regulatory compliance, claims management, due diligence, and broader legal advisory and legal consulting services.

We will also look to develop and train our own proprietary AI models with Harvey to create customised products and services for our own use cases and for clients across Legal Business Solutions.

In addition, we have begun a major upskilling of our people on GenAI, alongside continued investment into our cloud, data and analytics, engineering and developer capabilities. This investment features an industry-leading relationship with Microsoft, creating scalable offerings using OpenAI’s GPT-4 and Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI Service. This has enabled us to transform the way we work while harnessing the power of GenAI. We have used this technology to help support clients in reinventing their businesses and delivering better outcomes by generating richer insights, driving more productivity, and developing new products and services in a way that builds greater trust with their stakeholders.

Immersive tech experiences

To help bring our investment in intelligent platforms and GenAI to life, we have also opened two new exciting client experiences - one in our Manchester office called Frictionless Futures and one in London focused on sustainability. Both are immersive spaces that will bring human-led, tech-powered to life for clients.

In the case of Frictionless Futures, this is in the form of a physical pop-up store and hospitality environment - it's all about how our clients can make the customer experience as smooth as possible. Clients will get to see how different technologies can be combined into an intelligent platform to transform their business. This is part of our ongoing investment into our Manchester technology centre.

This will be an immersive experience, with collaborative workshop spaces to define a roadmap for each client. We have mobilised teams across PwC as well as our Alliance partners AiFi, IFS and Microsoft.

Our Sustainability Showcase in our London Embankment office is another interactive experience for clients to explore common sustainability challenges and learn how our tech-powered solutions can help them.

These are just a handful of the investments that we have made over the past year and we will continue to bring our New Equation strategy to life.
