The power of data

The value that we can provide our clients from data analysis is something that really drives Natalie, an Associate in our Deals Insights and Analytics team. Here’s her story…

Tell us about your role in the Deals Insight and Analytics team

Having previously completed PwC’s Women in Business programme whilst at university, I joined the Deals Insights and Analytics team in September 2021. The team is new, but we’re growing fast which makes now the most exciting time to join. We work with some of the top names in industry on exciting deals which means our projects vary widely from carve-out preparation to cost-saving analytics.

While I’m still learning the ropes, I’m amazed at how much responsibility I’ve been given so early on in my career. My job in the team is to perform both data preparation and visualization. This means we receive data from the client, which I then prepare so that it’s in the correct format to be used in visualization software to make a series of dashboards. This enables us to present key insights to our clients in an impactful, easy to understand format.

The value that we can provide our clients comes from the speed of our analysis, how deep we can dive into their data to gain insights, as well as our ability to handle such large amounts of data. We wouldn’t be able to do this without our innovative technologies - not just external technologies that we have access to, but also our own technology solutions that we continue to make and develop in-house. It’s these technologies that will no doubt continue to be of great use to our clients for years to come, and I am thrilled to be part of such a technologically advanced, forward-thinking team.

What training and support were you given when you joined the team?

There is a wealth of resources and opportunities available to those who ask for it. When I first joined the Deals Insights and Analytics team, I took part in a 7-week training programme before I was available for project work. It gave me the opportunity to digitally upskill myself and become familiar with our technologies so I had the confidence going into project work with clients.

Why choose PwC and the Deals Insights and Analytics team to grow your career?

Every company has values, but not every company applies them as rigorously as PwC. Here are two of the PwC values that resonate most with me:

  1. PwC “Cares” by providing everyone with a career coach. My career coach has helped me with everything from settling into the team to trusting my capabilities and encouraging me to put myself forward for projects that I thought were out of my depth.

  2. PwC “Makes a difference” with clients by providing cutting edge solutions which meet, and often exceed their expectations. In society, PwC also encourages volunteering and work to enhance social mobility which is of great importance to me.

PwC doesn’t just tick a box with its values - I’ve experienced first hand how everyone in the Deals Insights and Analytics team applies them in their everyday lives. I’ve had team members from senior associates to senior managers encouraging me to stand up for myself and what’s right, and even given me examples of how they’ve done so themselves.

The people are ultimately why you should join my team. We work on some of the biggest deals for clients who are key players in their respective industries, while still keeping a decent work-life balance. If you move into a career in Deals Insights and Analytics, you’ll get to be a part of it as a member of our highly skilled team who are, in my opinion, some of the most authentic, hard-working people you’ll ever meet and I find it a pleasure to work with them.
