I joined PwC in 2018 after graduating, and I work in the Accounting Services team in Tax. My team helps clients meet the complexity and risk of accounting compliance obligations, so they can focus on running their business. Every job I work on is different and I love the variety - my clients include international, FTSE100 and well-known businesses.
Outside of work, I have a passion for the outdoors and exploring new destinations both abroad and in the UK. My husband and I are always planning our next adventure. I love to see and experience different places and cultures and the learning that comes with it. For me, travel really highlights the importance of diversity and acceptance and I can bring this back to my everyday life
Working at PwC, there are so many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of your day-to-day role. I’m part of PwC’s Social Entrepreneurs Club, which is a UK wide network that shares the skills of our people with ambitious social entrepreneurs. In this role, I help to manage PwC’s relationship with Impact Hub Bradford, a social innovation hub and coworking space for local entrepreneurs, and we support them with their local programme SUSTAIN. They developed the programme to help organisations recover in a post-pandemic world and we run masterclasses and coaching sessions for the organisations involved. I’m also on the Community Affairs Committee, overseeing the charity fundraising in the Leeds and Bradford offices. Using my role at PwC to make a difference to the local community is important to me and I’m proud to be able to do this.
There’s a real sense of belonging in the team and I think we bring out the best in each other. The team works extremely hard, but we’re all supportive of each other and encourage each other to achieve our goals and overcome any challenges, which really helps to create a positive team environment and culture. Whilst there’s a strong team mentality, we’re also all recognised as individuals and you‘re trusted at PwC to take control of your own time, workload and career. I enjoy working with this level of autonomy.
Technology is impacting the way we work in the Accounting Services team, both in terms of the tools we use and the people we work with. We’ve developed technologies in the team to automate the process to collect and validate data and we use software such as Alteryx to increase efficiencies in how we manipulate and analyse data. As this use of tech continues to evolve, it provides fantastic opportunities to network and work with different teams across the firm. We’ve built a diverse team that combines technology with technical tax and accounting knowledge to meet our clients' needs. This diversity of thought encourages even more collaboration and learning from each other.
