There are many different aspects to the role of the Auditor. And multiple roles within a career at PwC. So it’s no wonder that our people need a broad range of personal qualities and natural talents to succeed.

Behind the scenes, beyond the numbers

In Audit, it’s our job to challenge the facts behind the UK's most significant organisations. When a business makes financial and regulatory statements, as well as reporting on sustainability, ethical practices, and corporate governance, we are trusted by its board, shareholders, stakeholders and, crucially, the markets, to ensure that those statements are fair and accurate.

We investigate, challenge  and verify the public statements of all kinds of organisations, from small businesses and tech start-ups to global banks and high-street brands. Working in close-knit teams and drawing on the knowledge of industry-leading subject-matter experts, we bring independent rigour to the way businesses measure, benchmark and report their performance.

We see the world from a unique perspective. It’s our responsibility to take an independent view. So our people learn to cut through the complexity to see what actually makes a business tick. And then challenge the assumptions it makes.

As the pace of change and technology accelerates, it’s this critical mindset, hunger to understand, willingness to challenge, and commitment to finding the right answer, that is the key skill for every kind of business career.
