Working in Economics Consulting

Economics is the science of business and every day it shapes the world we live in, cutting across the most pressing issues facing businesses, investors, regulators and governments. Our clients rely on us to help them solve their most difficult problems. We're one of the UK’s leading economics consultancies and work with clients both in the UK and internationally as part of PwC’s global network of economists.

Our work addresses the most complex business and policy issues facing our clients, whether it’s navigating competition and commercial disputes; shaping efficient and competitive markets; providing  macroeconomic forecasts; or framing and delivering big investments. We also help organisations develop new strategies, face regulators or engage in litigation.

The Economics Consulting experience

As a graduate economist you’ll be able to work across nine key areas, including regulatory economics, impact assessment, macroeconomics, pricing economics, behavioural economics, financial economics, econometric modelling, competition economics and sports economics.

We pride ourselves on being a diverse, meritocratic, intellectual and supportive team. We all help shape our practice, and we foster a sense of entrepreneurship – everybody plays a role in identifying and capitalising on new business development opportunities. Our clients trust and value us as advisers. A high-performing culture is critical to our success, and our position as a top graduate employer reflects our commitment to career development and your work life balance.

Our people are important to us and we want to reward hard work and commitment. Along with regular feedback and support for your development, you’ll earn a competitive salary and discretionary annual bonus reflecting your contribution and impact, as well as many other flexible benefits. We offer clear progression and promotion, and the satisfaction of working on exciting issues with great colleagues and clients.

Joining as a graduate

You’ll be supported and encouraged to take ownership of your personal development, continually learning through feedback from different projects and roles.

We’ll work with you to track your development so you know how you're doing and where you can improve. At this early stage in your career you’ll have access to inspirational leaders and this, coupled with the quality of the training you'll receive, means you'll become a recognised expert in the profession. Although a formal qualification is not included in the graduate programme, we encourage and support individuals in achieving a professional qualification with the possible opportunity of getting sponsorships and study leave.

You’ll also have the opportunity to work towards the Chartered Management Consultant award, which sets and maintains the highest standards for the management consulting profession and is aligned to "Consulting Excellence"; the MCA 'kite mark' of quality. The award provides a framework that individuals can use to plan their professional development and is formally recognised in the consulting industry. Across five years, you’ll build a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate that you meet the key competencies and behaviours in order to obtain chartership status. We’ll work with you along your journey.
