Working in tech-powered consulting

Today, technology is the difference between businesses who lead and everybody else. But the ‘right’ technology transformation doesn’t come in one form. Businesses might use it to improve individual functions, to unlock new commercial returns or to fundamentally overhaul how their entire organisation is connected. While all business leaders recognise the importance of technology to their organisation, they don’t always know what’s possible, what to tackle first, or how to go about implementing the necessary change.

We bring together the power of our deep industry and functional expertise, deep technology specialisms, and alliance relationships to help our clients minimise disruption and maximise impact with tech-powered transformation. PwC is rated among the top technology consultants by leading analysts because we know how to help our clients extract real business value from tech.

Working side-by-side with our functional and industry experts, our technologists strive for imaginative ways of solving our clients' most important challenges. They provide expertise across technology strategy, architecture and delivery, in specific specialisms such as data, intelligent sourcing and cloud, and in best-in-class market technologies - both cloud hyperscalers such as Microsoft, Google and AWS, and enterprise applications including Oracle, Salesforce, SAP, Guidewire and Workday.

As part of our tech-powered Consulting teams, you’ll help our clients to undertake large scale, cloud-enabled technology delivery, implementation and transformation programmes, working across a variety of industry sectors with client opportunities across the UK.

The Consulting experience

Your structured development programme means you’ll experience the different types of work we do and get exposure to the clients we work with. This may involve:

  • helping clients address business-wide tech-powered change, potentially brought about by regulation or changing business demands
  • setting tech-powered transformation strategy and defining new ways of working
  • being part of a team conducting a detailed appraisal of a client’s processes and systems, making recommendations including building proof of concepts and technology products to show and tell
  • working with clients to help them innovate, leveraging a range of technologies to help them solve business problems
  • working with our internal teams (Centres of Excellence) to design and build technology assets that help solve our clients business challenges
  • working with workclass technologies SaaS (software as a service), PaaS (platform as a service), and IaaS (logging as a service), from global brands such as Salesforce, SAP, Microsoft, Oracle and many others.

Whatever the project – this is one programme where you’ll continue to learn.

Working with clients

Working alongside our industry and functional experts, you could be helping clients with:

  • Digital operations transformation - helping major global clients simplify their supply chain management, reduce stock levels, and improve services and lead times through innovative and more effective use of technology
  • Finance transformation - helping CFOs make better decisions with the use of real-time data, track investments in real-time, and report on up-to-the-minute changes with live dashboards.
  • Customer-led transformation - helping businesses rethink the way people connect, transact and engage with their company as part of delivering responsible growth, improving insight and bringing efficiencies with tech-powered transformation of customer experience, marketing and sales, service, pricing and innovation.
  • Cloud transformation - helping clients to unleash the power of the cloud to create structural cost advantages and efficiencies, achieve enterprise-wide digital transformation, launch future-focused digital products and services or even build entirely new digital and cloud native businesses.
  • Risk and compliance transformation - helping risk and compliance teams, who often face large and complex legacy technology estates, to see which applications are still relevant and effective – reducing costs and complexity while shifting the focus back onto potential risks.
  • HR business transformation - working with clients to deliver a complete HR strategy, define and map the application architecture, help validate and select vendors, and create the technical implementation roadmaps.
