Working in Risk as a Graduate

We are pioneers in a world of changing risk. At the heart of our business are diverse teams with the right ambition, skills and technology to solve complex problems together and do work that really matters.

Whichever programme you join in Risk, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a variety of clients and industries in a world of changing risk. You'll be on the front line working in a team, whilst liaising with our clients to help find new ways to secure value and navigate uncertainty with confidence.

We are prioritising the outcomes that matter to our clients, our people and society. Our work focuses on helping our clients navigate uncertainty, changing the way they predict, prepare and respond to risk, giving them confidence to make decisions that make the difference.

Our Risk teams

  • Technology, Data and Analytics - bringing technology risk and data and analytics experts together to help our clients transform their technology, deal with risk and regulatory challenges, respond to crises and operate their businesses effectively.
  • Cyber Security - working with organisations to build and assure their cyber security defences, and if attacked help respond to breaches.
  • Risk Modelling Services - delivering analytics, validation and model risk management solutions across credit risk, market risk, operational risk and compliance risk areas.
  • Enterprises - our Enterprises business leads the drive for growth and innovation across Risk enabling our high growth areas to have the space and breadth to rapidly scale. This business currently comprises four diverse key growth areas: PwC Sustainability, Marketer & Media Owner, Enterprise Business Applications, and Customer Insights
  • Control, Deals, Accounting and Risk - CDAR - in the initial years of this graduate pathway, you'll be deeply involved in understanding and assessing a client’s business processes - both operational, regulatory and financial.

We also have opportunities to join our Risk Management team within Business Solutions.

We’re investing in our talent and innovating our tools and technologies to strengthen our business - staying at the cutting edge with new techniques. Our people have a sense of pride as risk professionals - pushing boundaries to become truly distinctive in the marketplace.

Joining as a graduate

We hire talented people with diverse backgrounds, skills and experiences, and look to celebrate difference as part of our culture of genuine inclusion.

From the moment you join us, our Risk graduate training pathways will equip you with the ambition, skills and technology needed to progress and succeed in PwC. From investing in skills and new capabilities and technology to empower our people, to bringing together people from different backgrounds, with diverse experiences and viewpoints, we’re committed to making PwC a place where you can thrive.

You’ll have the opportunity to work closely with your teams and collaborate with other graduates to build a strong, meaningful cohort that you will grow with in future years. You’ll never stop learning and we will continue to invest in your development as your career progresses.

From the outset you’ll be delivering solutions for our clients to meet their needs today and prepare them for what comes tomorrow.

For our Risk programmes, you'll need to have or be on course to pass an undergraduate degree, and this can be in any subject. However some of our specialist areas may have specific degree requirements.

Life in Risk

Organisations are looking for trusted partners, now more than ever, to help them navigate disruption and change. For an ever-growing group of clients, we’re that partner. Many of our teams will visit their clients, providing a unique insight to establish the core route of issues impacting their business and to project manage solutions end-to-end.

Our Risk practice is focused on developing leaders of society at all levels within the firm. Those who are authentic, who inspire, who lead by example and who consistently demonstrate the right behaviours and values. Leadership isn’t always about leading others, it’s also about leading yourself.

Our Risk teams have an inclusive culture where people can bring their real selves to work and where difference and individuality is celebrated. We also encourage our people to support many of the charity partnerships we have at PwC and spend time focusing on personal wellbeing and resilience.

The future of risk

The age of disruption is bringing new complexities, new opportunities, and new risks to the business landscape. Alongside this, the potential for crises has intensified — driven by rapid technological change and amplified by societal expectations around trust and social responsibility.

We’ve invested heavily in our internal technologies. Our Frontier Labs have been designed to help us bring client issues to life in a real, practical and engaging way, allowing us to work much more collaboratively. Think augmented reality experiences, robotics and the latest tools for measuring emotional intelligence through wearable technology - over the next few years, our Risk teams will play a vital role in developing how this technology will be used for virtual collaborations, idea generation and information sharing.

Our Ideas Refinery platform encourages innovation and creativity and gives our people the opportunity to share ideas and to help shape the way that we do business in the future. Whether quick wins or big moves, all ideas are considered.

Throughout your time with us, we’ll support you to reach your potential and access career enhancing opportunities. Our graduates of today will be leaders of tomorrow.
